The leno mesh bag that ventilates, protects and sells
Textil Villa de Pego's mono-raffia mesh bag is woven using the leno (cross-weave gauze) technique: an HDPE monofilament warp and a polypropylene raffia weft. The combination unites the open ventilation of leno mesh with the strength and generous print area of raffia. The result is a pack that keeps fresh produce fresh, stands up to in-line handling and shows off your brand on the shelf.

fresh produce
Highly breathable
The open structure of the leno weave keeps air moving around the product at all times. That ventilation prevents the internal condensation that accelerates mould and rot during transport and storage.
Reusable
Made from tough leno fabric, mono-raffia bags withstand several cycles of use without losing shape or strength. A more sustainable, more economical packaging option than single-use formats.
100% recyclable
The bag is made from polyolefins (HDPE and polypropylene) that can be recovered at end of life through plastic recycling channels. No mixed materials to complicate recovery.
Strong
The leno weave stops tears from spreading: if one thread gives way, the weft does not unravel in a chain. The bag withstands the weight, edges and abrasion typical of fruit and vegetable logistics.
Durable leno weave
The leno, or cross-weave gauze, technique twists the warp threads around each other, locking the weft in place and giving the bag far greater dimensional stability than raschel knit. A firmer mesh that keeps its shape when filled.
Made to measure
Capacity, colour, closure type and brand band are all defined to your requirements. Textil Villa de Pego manufactures every reference at its Pego plant, with batch control and the capacity to respond to urgent orders.

Personalise your bag with your brand
All mono-raffia mesh bags can be manufactured with a personalised brand band printed around the body of the bag.
The brand band is a printed strip that wraps around the body of the bag carrying the logo, trade name and details of the grower or cooperative. It reinforces brand identity at the point of sale.
It is one of the services most requested by cooperatives and fruit and vegetable packhouses: it turns a functional pack into a communication medium visible on the shelf. We define colours, artwork and print area together with your team.
Made-to-measure printed band

Your brand travels with the product all the way to the retail shelf.
Product, origin and variety
We print the product name, origin and variety your brand requires on the band.

Closures available
The mono-raffia mesh bag can be manufactured with three closure systems, to suit your packing line and handling method.
Drawstring closure (self-closing cord)
A raffia cord built into the mouth of the bag. Pull both ends and the bag closes while forming two carry handles. The most practical closure for retail and delivery.
Sewn closure
The mouth of the bag is machine-sewn shut once filled. A firm, permanent closure for bulk transport and storage where reopening is not required.
Open mouth (manual closure)
A bag with no built-in closure. The customer seals the mouth by hand as needed: with a knot, cord, cable tie or staple. The most flexible option for filling on the farm.
Packing on an automatic line?
If your packhouse runs automatic filling lines, we manufacture the same mesh bag in machine-ready formats. Each has its own product page.

Frequently asked questions about the mono-raffia mesh bag
What is a mono-raffia mesh bag?
It is a mesh bag woven with the leno, or cross-weave gauze, technique, combining an HDPE monofilament warp with a polypropylene raffia weft. The blend unites the open ventilation of leno mesh with the strength and print area that raffia provides. Because of its raffia weft, many buyers also know it as the raffia sack.
What capacities does the mono-raffia mesh bag come in?
The bag is manufactured in capacities from 5 to 50 kg, to customer requirement. Because it is made to measure at our own plant, the size can be matched to the packed product and the sales format, from point-of-sale bag to bulk transport sack.
Which colours is it available in?
The mono-raffia bag is manufactured in any colour the customer requires: red, orange, green, yellow, white and custom shades. The colour is chosen to suit the packed product and the preferences of the destination market.
Can my brand be printed on the bag?
Yes. All mono-raffia mesh bags can be manufactured with a personalised brand band printed around the body of the bag, carrying your logo, trade name and artwork. It is one of the services most requested by cooperatives and fruit and vegetable packhouses.
Why does mesh help keep produce fresh?
The open structure of the leno weave lets air circulate continuously around the product. That ventilation prevents internal condensation, which is what accelerates mould and rot during transport and storage.
What is the difference between leno and raschel?
The leno weave twists the warp threads around each other, locking the weft and giving the bag excellent dimensional stability and firmness. Raschel is a knitted mesh that tends to distort when filled. For the mono-raffia bag, Textil Villa de Pego uses a leno weave.
Which closures does the mono-raffia mesh bag offer?
Three options: a drawstring closure (a self-closing cord that seals the bag and forms two handles), a machine-sewn closure (firm and permanent) and an open mouth (a bag with no built-in closure that the customer seals by hand). The closure is independent of the filling method, which can be manual or automatic.
Does the bag include UV stabilisation?
UV stabilisation is available on request; it is not standard. If the bags will face prolonged sun exposure, mention it when requesting a quote and we will manufacture your reference with UV treatment.
Need a Polymesh bag?
The Polymesh bag is a raschel mesh that Textil Villa de Pego manufactures to order for specific packing needs. It is not part of the standard catalogue: it is produced to measure to meet each customer's exact requirement.
