A pack with the look of jute and the behaviour of polypropylene: from field to shelf, and from the gift table to the garden.
The look of jute, without jute's drawbacks
Textil Villa de Pego's synthetic jute sack is woven from textured monofilament alongside regular monofilament, forming a closed, compact fabric. Texturising the yarn kills the characteristic sheen of plastic and creates a matt, fibrous surface that mimics natural hessian. Unlike jute, it is not a plant fibre: it does not absorb moisture, does not rot and is never treated with mineral oil. The result is a pack with the visual warmth of jute and the technical performance of polypropylene.

Why choose synthetic jute
over natural jute
No jute batching oil
Natural jute is treated with mineral oil during batching to soften the fibre. That oil (MOSH/MOAH hydrocarbons) can migrate into the packed product — a documented risk in coffee, cocoa and nuts. The synthetic jute sack contains no batching oil: polypropylene is an inert, stable material.
Moisture resistant
Jute is a hygroscopic plant fibre: it absorbs ambient moisture and passes it on to the product. Polypropylene absorbs no water, so the synthetic jute sack protects the contents far better against condensation and damp during transport and storage.
No rot, no mould
Natural jute degrades and goes mouldy, losing strength within a year or two of use. Polypropylene is not attacked by fungi or bacteria: the synthetic jute sack keeps its integrity and appearance over many more cycles of use and storage.
No sack taste or odour
Jute fibres pass a characteristic 'sack' taste and smell into the product, especially in damp storage. Polypropylene is odourless and tasteless and transfers no off-notes, keeping the organoleptic qualities of coffee, nuts and fruit fully intact.
Reusable and durable
The closed polypropylene weave withstands countless cycles of filling, transport and display without fraying or losing shape. It is why the decor and gift-packaging sector has already adopted synthetic jute: it lasts season after season.
Natural jute-look finish
The textured monofilament gives a warm-toned, matt, fibrous surface that faithfully reproduces the look of hessian. It brings jute's decorative, artisan value to Christmas hampers, gift sets and displays, with the durability of a technical material.

Personalise your sack with your brand
The synthetic jute sack can be manufactured with a personalised brand band printed over the jute-look finish.
The brand band is a printed strip carrying the logo, trade name and details of the grower, cooperative or decor brand. Over the warm background of synthetic jute, the print takes on a natural, artisan finish highly valued on the shelf and in gift packaging.
We define colours, artwork and print area together with your team. It is a service in particular demand from fresh-produce brands, coffee roasters and hamper companies looking to set their product apart with premium-look packaging.
Made-to-measure printed band
Logo, trade name and artwork defined to match your brand identity.
Premium natural finish
Printing over the jute shade delivers an artisan quality that is hard to achieve on other packaging.
Product, origin and variety
We print the product name, origin and variety your brand requires on the band.

Frequently asked questions about the synthetic jute sack
What is a synthetic jute sack?
It is a sack manufactured 100% in polypropylene that reproduces the look of natural jute. It is woven from textured monofilament, whose matt, fibrous finish mimics hessian. Unlike jute, it is not a plant fibre, so it does not absorb moisture, does not rot and is never treated with mineral oil.
How is it different from natural jute?
Natural jute is a plant fibre: it absorbs moisture, degrades and goes mouldy, passes a 'sack' taste into the product and is treated with jute batching oil that can migrate into the contents. Synthetic jute shares the look but is an inert polymer: moisture resistant, rot-free, with no taste transfer and no mineral oil.
Is it safe for packing foods such as coffee or nuts?
Polypropylene is an inert, odourless, tasteless material. Unlike jute, the synthetic jute sack is not treated with jute batching oil (MOSH/MOAH hydrocarbons), whose migration into coffee, cocoa and nuts is well documented. Mention the food use when requesting a quote so we can confirm the specifications for your order.
Why does it look like jute if it is plastic?
The fabric combines textured monofilament with regular monofilament. Texturising the yarn kills the characteristic sheen of plastic and produces a warm-toned, matt, fibrous surface that is practically indistinguishable from natural hessian at first glance.
What capacities and sizes does it come in?
The synthetic jute sack is manufactured in capacities from 5 to 50 kg and in bespoke sizes, as it is made to measure at our own plant. It suits both agricultural packing formats and small sizes for decor, hampers and gift packaging.
Can my brand be printed on the sack?
Yes. The sack can be manufactured with a personalised brand band printed over the jute-look finish, carrying your logo, trade name and product details. Printing over the warm synthetic jute background delivers a highly valued natural, artisan finish.
Does it rot or grow mould in damp conditions?
No. Polypropylene is not attacked by fungi or bacteria and absorbs no water. Unlike natural jute, which degrades and moulds within a year or two, the synthetic jute sack keeps its strength and appearance over many more cycles of use, even in gardening and damp storage.
Does the sack include UV stabilisation?
UV stabilisation is available on request; it is not standard. If the sack will face prolonged sun exposure, mention it when requesting a quote and we will manufacture your reference with UV treatment.
Looking for a ventilated, breathable mesh bag?
If your product needs open ventilation rather than a closed jute-style weave, the leno mono-raffia mesh bag is Textil Villa de Pego's flagship pack for fresh fruit and vegetables.
Need a Polymesh bag?
The Polymesh bag is a raschel mesh that Textil Villa de Pego manufactures to order for specific packing needs. It is not part of the standard catalogue: it is produced to measure to meet each customer's exact requirement.
