Three keys to the wicket format for automatic filling.
The leno mesh bag ready for the automatic line
The wicket Baxmatic bag is woven with the same leno (cross-weave gauze) technique as Textil Villa de Pego's flagship mesh bag: HDPE monofilament warp and polypropylene raffia weft. What changes is the mouth format. Instead of a conventional closure, the bag carries a laminated, perforated top strip that lets the bags be threaded onto a wicket wire. That strip keeps them stacked and aligned so the Baxmatic® line can pick, open, fill and release them fully automatically, with no manual handling between bags.

automatic packing
Highly breathable
The open structure of the leno weave keeps air moving around the product at all times. That ventilation prevents the internal condensation that accelerates mould and rot during transport and storage.
Reusable
Made from tough leno fabric, the bags withstand several cycles of use without losing shape or strength. A more sustainable, more economical packaging option than single-use formats.
100% recyclable
The bag is made from polyolefins (HDPE and polypropylene) that can be recovered at end of life through plastic recycling channels. No mixed materials to complicate recovery.
Strong
The leno weave stops tears from spreading: if one thread gives way, the weft does not unravel in a chain. The bag withstands the weight, edges and abrasion typical of fruit and vegetable logistics.
Laminated, perforated mouth for automatic feeding
The bag's top strip is laminated and perforated to thread onto the wicket wire. The lamination reinforces the mouth and keeps the perforation stable, so each bag releases cleanly from the wire when the machine picks it — no jams, no double picks.
High output on the packing line
Stacked and aligned on the wicket, the bags present themselves to the Baxmatic® line in exactly the same position every time. That allows a continuous filling cycle and a high, steady packing rate, with no stops to reposition bags by hand.

Personalise your bag with your brand
The wicket Baxmatic bag can be manufactured with a personalised printed brand band, just like the rest of the mesh bag formats.
The brand band is a printed strip that runs around the bag carrying the logo, trade name and details of the grower or cooperative. It reinforces brand identity at the point of sale, in machine-ready formats too.
It is one of the services most requested by cooperatives and fruit and vegetable packhouses: it turns a functional pack into a communication medium visible on the shelf. We define colours, artwork and print area together with your team.
Made-to-measure printed band
Logo, trade name and artwork defined to match your brand identity.
Shelf visibility
Your brand travels with the product all the way to the retail shelf.
Product, origin and variety
We print the product name, origin and variety your brand requires on the band.

Closure and handling
The wicket bag is designed for filling on an automatic line. These are the keys to its handling, from the wire to the closed bag.
Stacked on a wicket wire
The bags are supplied threaded through their perforated top strip onto a wicket wire. They arrive aligned and in the same position, ready to load into the packing line with no prior handling.
Automatic bag pick-up
The Baxmatic® line picks each bag off the wire, opens it and positions it under the filling head. The laminated mouth keeps the opening firm and ensures only one bag releases per cycle.
Sewn closure after filling
Once filled, the bag is usually closed with a machine-sewn seam within the line itself. A firm, permanent closure suited to transporting and storing the packed product.
Other formats in the same family
The wicket Baxmatic bag shares its leno weave with the rest of the mesh bag range. If your packing line is different, we manufacture the same bag in other formats. Each has its own product page.

Frequently asked questions about the wicket Baxmatic bag
What is a wicket Baxmatic bag?
It is a leno mesh bag — the same weave many buyers call the raffia sack — in wicket format: it carries a laminated, perforated top strip that lets several bags be threaded onto a wire. The format is ready for fully automatic filling on a Baxmatic® line, with no manual handling of the pack between bags.
How is it different from the conventional mesh bag?
The weave is the same: leno mesh of HDPE monofilament and polypropylene raffia. The difference is the mouth format. The conventional bag has a drawstring, sewn or open-mouth closure for manual or conventional-line filling; the wicket bag has a laminated, perforated mouth so it can stack on a wire and feed an automatic line.
What capacities does the wicket Baxmatic bag come in?
The bag is manufactured in capacities from 5 to 50 kg, depending on the customer's needs and the packed product. Made to measure at our own plant, the format can be matched to your packing line and sales weight.
How is the bag closed once filled?
The wicket bag is designed for filling on an automatic line, where the mouth is usually machine-sewn within the line itself after filling. It is a firm, permanent closure suited to transporting and storing the product.
Which colours is it available in?
The wicket Baxmatic bag is manufactured in any colour the customer requires: red, orange, green, yellow, white and custom shades. The colour is chosen to suit the packed product and the preferences of the destination market.
Can my brand be printed on the bag?
Yes. The wicket bag can be manufactured with a personalised printed brand band carrying your logo, trade name and artwork, just like the rest of the mesh bag formats. It is one of the services most requested by cooperatives and fruit and vegetable packhouses.
Does the bag include UV stabilisation?
UV stabilisation is available on request; it is not standard. If the bags will face prolonged sun exposure, mention it when requesting a quote and we will manufacture your reference with UV treatment.
Why does mesh help keep produce fresh?
The open structure of the leno weave lets air circulate continuously around the product. That ventilation prevents internal condensation, which is what accelerates mould and rot during transport and storage.
Need a Polymesh bag?
The Polymesh bag is a raschel mesh that Textil Villa de Pego manufactures to order for specific packing needs. It is not part of the standard catalogue: it is produced to measure to meet each customer's exact requirement.
